Kenya Proof of concept

In 2022, Maisha completed its first successful proof of concept in Kenya. Our team worked closely with local landowners and farmers to trial and refine the solution development and application processes, and demonstrate in practice the immediate impact of Maisha Earth Solutions on previously degraded land.

Goals

Sustainable Regeneration
Community Empowerment
Food Security
Circular Economy

Pilot Programme

A turnkey, tailormade community programme, regenerating previously depleted land to support up to 80 families as part of a seamless, circular, zero waste model. The unique, data-driven approach will incorporate sanitation systems producing methane gas for cooking and heating, a borehole with water harvesting technology, high-quality livestock care and gender responsive training. After finalising a 450 ha. MOU with local landowners and community leaders, our pilot programme commences 2024.

Pilot Programme

Maisha solutions are set to transform sand into soil, regenerating the land in months where nature would take 40 years to recover. This pilot programme will demonstrate and record how drought tolerant plants can thrive in extreme conditions as the building blocks of a new ecosystem, encouraging biodiversity, while intercropping creates nutritious animal feed. An exclusive agreement with the Sulaibiya treatment plant will produce biochar for Maisha Living Earth plus water for irrigation and livestock

Goals

Combatting desertification
Soil regeneration
Waste management
